Policies
  1. Only full-time staff and faculty of the University of Chicago may receive an account for submitting messages to the College Mailroom.

  2. Outside organizations (organizations not affiliated with the University of Chicago) are expressly barred from making postings to the College Mailroom.

  3. Only mail addressed to undergraduate students is accepted in the College Mailroom.

  4. Any mail sent through the Mailroom is subject to the University's Acceptable Use Policy, which may be read on the world wide web at the following location:

    https://itservices.uchicago.edu/policies/eaup/

  5. A submission will be rejected if it constitutes a commercial announcement, this includes solicitations for volunteers and job-postings.

  6. Some reasonable amount of time must exist between the submission date and the desired date of posting. Messages intended for distribution in the future will be queued. No guarantees are made as to the timeliness of postings, although if at least one full working day is allowed for most postings will be generated.

  7. Except under extraordinary circumstances postings will be generated only after working hours (5pm) on any weekday. This is done to avoid overloading Academic Computing Service's primary mail servers during their peak usage periods.

  8. Your posting will go out with a "reply-to" header set to your email address. Any replies to your message will go to your email address, unless you specify an alternative address and a reason. Emails that cannot be delivered will return to the Mailroom and Mailroom administration will make every reasonable attempt to forward the message to the appropriate recipient.

  9. Postings must be kept to a reasonable length, if a world wide web page exists that duplicates the content of the message, it is preferable to simply include a reference to that world wide web page.

  10. Submissions that violate these guidelines will be discussed by College Administration and may be denied distribution. In this case, an attempt will be made to inform you of this decision and to explain the reasons behind it.
